Carlotta formed in the eastern Pacific Ocean on July 31st, 2024. On August 1, 2024, Carlotta strengthened into a category one hurricane. The storm is expected to stay over open waters.

Peak sustained wind gusts were at 90 mph, and top wind gusts were measured at 115 mph.
