Central US Severe and Winter Weather Outbreak
Multiple rounds of severe storms are expected across the Central Plains and Midwest. Severe hail, strong winds, and tornadoes are likely within the storm system.
The storm began in west and central Minnesota on Tuesday, April 1. Snowfall developed over Minnesota and Wisconsin later in the day, leading to an inch of snow per hour falling in the region, leading to 3 to 5 inches of snow falling in the Twin Cities area, and 3 to 5 falling in west-central Minnesota.
On Wednesday, April 1, another inch of snow fell per hour in western Minnesota, accompanied by cold rain and sleet. 4 to 8 inches of snow fell over the west-central part of the state, which accumulated to double digit amounts of snowfall.
