Pacific Northwest Bomb Cyclone

On November 19, 2024, a powerful mid-latitude cyclone formed over the northeast Pacific Ocean bringing significant impacts to parts of western North America.

The system has been dubbed a ‘bomb cyclone’ after the central pressure of the storm rapidly deepened.

The cyclone has cut power to over 600,000 customers and is responsible for at least two deaths. The storm brought heavy snow and flash flooding across the Pacific Northwest.
