Southern Georgia Wildfires
On April 18, 2026, the Pineland Road fire in Clinch county, Georgia ignited, quickly growing to over 3,200 acres in its first 24 hours. The next day, on April 20, the Brantley Highway 82 Fire ignited to the northeast in Brantley county.
By April 24, the Pineland Road Fire was over 32,183 acres and the Brantley Highway 82 Fire was over 7,566 acres, and between them, they had destroyed 87 homes.
The southern portion of Georgia is currently under exceptional drought, allowing fires to spread more quickly.
