Tropical Cyclone Maila
Tropical Cyclone Maila formed over the Solomon Sea on April 4, 2026. Over the next several days, the storm slowly strengthened while remaining nearly stationary. On April 7, Maila had maximum winds equivalent to a Category 4 hurricane, making it the one of the strongest storms ever for the Solomon Sea.
Maila is expected to start moving towards the southeast, and make landfall in northern Queensland sometime bear the start of next week.
