Grace rapidly intensified into a category 3 storm just prior to landfalling in Veracruz, Mexico on August 21st. This marked the strongest hurricane landfall in Veracruz’s history.

In total, 16 deaths and over $500 million in damage were attributed to Hurricane Grace.
