Volcano Wakes up From Centuries-Long Slumber

The Krasheninnikov volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula awakens for the first time in hundreds of years, spewing ash into the atmosphere. Along with an eruption from the nearby Klyuchevskoy volcano, both came less than a week after the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the region.
