Tropical Storm Mario
Mario was a tropical storm in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Tropical Depression Thirteen-E strengthened into Mario in the early morning of September 12, 2025, bringing heavy rain to southwestern Mexico. Later that evening, around midnight, Mario weakened to below a tropical storm. However, on September 14, the remnants of Mario strengthened back into a tropical storm.
The storm stayed offshore from Baja California Sur as it remained a tropical storm until the afternoon of September 16, when it weakened into a tropical depression. The storm had dissipated by the next morning.
The tropical moisture from Mario began making its way into the Southwest by September 18, bringing rain across the region. In Southern California, heavy rain triggered flash flooding and mudslides, and in Death Valley National Park, they received about one-quarter of their annual precipitation, leading to flooding and closed roads
