Tropical Storm Chris

Tropical Storm Chris formed in the Bay of Campeche in the southern Gulf of Mexico on June 30th, 2024.

Chris made landfall in Mexico that same night along the coastline of the state of Veracruz, dissipating the following day on July 1st, 2024.

Chris development a tropical wave on June 24, 2024, and was the third named Atlantic hurricane of 2024. Chris brought heavy rainfall to areas already impacted by Tropical Storm Alberto, causing up to 11 inches of rainfall and flooding. The rain also triggered a mudslide, killing one in Hidalgo. While clearing debris from the storm, four police officers drowned and one woman was electrocuted by a fallen power line.

Damage is estimated in the millions.
