Tropical Cyclone Gezani
Gezani is a tropical cyclone in the western Indian Ocean. The storm first formed on February 8, 2026 to the north of Mauritius. Over the next couple of days, Gezani strengthened as it traveled westward toward Madagascar. The storm had winds of 125 mph (201 km/h) as it neared the island on February 10. Later that day, the storm slammed into the island with wind speeds of more than 120 mph (195 km/h) near the port city of Toamasina. The storm weakened as it crossed the island leaving at least 35 people dead in its wake. Once over the Mozambique Channel, the storm began restrengthening.
