Hurricane Roslyn
Roslyn was a hurricane that made landfall along the southwestern coats of Mexico.
Tropical Storm Roslyn formed on October 20th, 2022 in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Roslyn strengthened into a hurricane late on October 21st with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph.
On October 22nd, Roslyn rapidly intensified into a category four storm with winds of 130 mph.
Early on October 23rd, Roslyn made landfall in northern Nayarit Mexico as a category four hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 mph. Roslyn hit the low-populated area between Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. According to local media reports, two people died during the storm, after taking shelter in unstable structures that collapsed. Those deaths were not confirmed by the state.
Roslyn made landfall near the village of Santa Cruz and San Blas, a fishing village. Across Mexico, 150,000 homes were reported to have lost power due to the storm.
In Puerto Vallarta, the storm caused some minor damage to resorts in the area.
