Early January Winter Storm and Blizzard
In the evening of January 4th, 2025, a low pressure system developed over the Texas Panhandle into Oklahoma. The system tracked eastward over the next day where it produced blizzard conditions in Kansas and ice accumulations in Kentucky. To the south of the winter weather, severe storms producing strong wind and a few tornadoes moved through Louisiana and Mississippi.
Behind the system, frigid polar air plunged into the upper Great Plains.
