Temporary Lake in Death Valley Evaporates Under Record-Breaking Heat

Late 2025 and early 2026 brought plentiful rain to Death Valley, resulting in the revival of Lake Manly in the park’s Badwater Basin. A large ridge over the Western US resulted in record-breaking heat during the month of March, accelerating the evaporation process of the temporary lake.
