Typhoon Podul

Podul formed as a tropical storm over the eastern Philippine Sea on August 7, 2025 and spent several days as a tropical storm as it made its way westward. On August 11, Podul strengthened into a typhoon and reached maximum strength a day later as the storm neared Taiwan.

Typhoon Podul made landfall in southern Taiwan near the city of Taitung on August 13, and brought winds of 118 mph (191 kph) to the island, canceling hundreds of flights.

After crossing the island, Podul entered the Taiwan Strait slightly weakened and made its way towards the Fujian province in China. The tropical storm made landfall again in the early hours of August 14, local time, near Zhangpu County, Zhangzhou, Fujian Province in China. The storm soon dissipated over the Hunan Province.
