Beginning as a tropical storm on July 23, 2025 in the South China Sea, Co-may underwent intensification into a typhoon as it made a U-turn towards the Philippines.

Ahead of the storm, the Philippines shut down schools and flights due to typhoon-strength winds and heavy rainfall.

Co-may made landfall on the northern Philippine island of Luzon on July 24, 2024.
