Hurricane Milton

Milton was a powerful, major hurricane that made landfall along the west coast of Florida. Milton brought dangerous storm surge, powerful winds, and numerous tornadoes to Florida.

As of Oct. 10, five people have died and over 3 million are left without power.

Milton slammed the west coast of Florida on Wednesday night, bringing flooding and heavy rainfall. Milton made landfall with sustained winds of 120 mph but downgraded to a Category 1 storm as it moved further inland.

Across the state on Wednesday, more 100 tornado warnings being issued before Milton made landfall.

Over 18 inches of rain fell in some areas, and high winds destroyed structures in Fort Myers and Tampa.

Storm surge warnings are still in place for the east-central Florida coast through northern Georgia on Thursday morning, and crews are continuing to survey the damage caused by the storm.
