Hurricane Hone

Hurricane Hone was a storm in the Central Pacific Ocean.

Hone developed as a tropical storm on August 22, 2024 in the Central North Pacific basin, becoming the first to form in that tropical region since October 2019.

Hone intensified into a category one hurricane just before passing to the south of the Hawaiian Islands on August 25, 2024, impacting the state in the form of dangerous surf and rip currents, as well as heavy rainfall.

Hone was reclassified as a tropical storm once it passed by Hawaii, heading westward towards the International Date Line.

A post-tropical Hone eventually crossed the International Date Line into the Western Pacific, where it dissipated soon after in early September 2024.
